McGlannan School utilizes both formal and informal methods to track our students’ progress from year to year.
At the end of each January, our students take The Iowa Assessments™ (Form E). The Iowa Assessments™ are evidence based, psychometrically sound assessments that measure student achievement and growth against next generation learning standards for grades K–12. This test is widely utilized across the United States as a national assessment tool to assess students’ academic skills. It measures both foundation skills and higher-order thinking skills in the areas of listening, language, reading, vocabulary, word analysis, written expression, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, math concepts and applications, and computation.
The graphs below show how McGlannan students have performed on the Iowa Assessments™ in five successive years from 2016-2020. This longitudinal study tracked student progress in the same subject areas at multiple points in time utilizing the 2017 norms, which are the most up-to-date national comparisons of student performance.
Normal student growth from grade to grade appears as a horizontal line (see black dotted reference line below). McGlannan student growth, represented by each of the solid colored lines, has an upward vertical trajectory. This indicates that in the areas English Language Arts and Mathematics, McGlannan students surpass the normal projected student growth.
